Maxine Angoo
Maxine is originally from Whale Cove, Nunavut and is a Beneficiary under the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement. She is adept at creating community engagement strategies, developing information material for the Inuit community and organizing and participating in Inuit specific events.
Based in Winnipeg, Maxine’s wide experience includes projects with Inuit and Inuit- serving organizations. She is currently the Services Coordinator for Tunngasugit as well as the cultural advisor for Argyle . Maxine also sits on organizing committees such as: Inuit Studies Conference 2020/2021, Indigenous Suicide Prevention Conference 2020/2021, Social Innovation Canada- Indigenous Governance Group as well as many steering committees. She teaches Inuit Games and does presentations within Manitoba.
She is fluent in reading, writing and speaking in English and Inuktitut and raises her daughters to be proud of who they are and where they come from. Maxine works hard in creating meaningful relationships within different organizations and institutions to show that Inuit are people, that have a unique culture and to break stereotypes by telling stories and sharing her life experiences.
